There are few things better than relaxing in the garden with a drink while watching the sun set or rise, or just feeling it shine on your face and keep you warm. At the same time you'll be able to hear the tweeting of birds, and the gentle breeze of the wind, and will be able to breath in fresh air and feel closer to nature. Being in the house all day can start to make you feel claustrophobic, hot and oppressed, so the ability to get outside briefly and enjoy some cool wind is an important way to feel peaceful and to enjoy your garden and your home to the full.
However doing all this can be quite difficult if you don't have somewhere nice to sit. A lot of gardens consist of just a square of grass and some flower beds. They may look very nice, but they're not particularly practical and they miss one very important design feature – concrete pavers, cobblestones or other natural stone tiles to create a patio area.
A patio area will provide you with somewhere that you can put garden furniture, and where you can stand without getting your shoes dirty or ruining your grass. This is a very important consideration and it will provide you with the even protected surface that you need to get the most out of your garden area.
Creating your patio area then is first of all a matter of choosing some natural stone tiles or concrete pavers to put down. Consider your budget, the colors of your garden and the other stone there, and importantly your budget. There are many different stones available here to choose from and each has different strengths and weaknesses – deciding on the best ones is one of the most important ways to create a great looking patio.
Next you need to decide what you want to keep there. This will depend partly on your intentions for the area and who lives in your home. It goes without saying that somewhere to sit is a great addition to any garden and this works best on concrete pavers or natural stone tiles as it will stay level. You can choose a garden bench for instance here, a swing bench or some patio chairs. This then allows you to sit outside in the morning with a cup of tea and to get woken up by the natural warmth of the sun.
However if you are looking to entertain, or to eat family meals, out on your patio, then you will also want to have something that you can rest plates and glasses on and that's where a patio table comes in handy. Here then you might want to have patio chairs then that match your table.
If you live somewhere warm and you are thinking of enjoying afternoons out on the patio too, then you might want to consider also an umbrella stand for the table to keep you in the shade – and there are many other features you can add for aesthetic effect or other uses such as an outdoor fireplace, garden art or a water feature.
